Miller Zell Donates Space for New Bankhead Boys Association Home
ATLANTA, GA, May 17, 2022 — Miller Zell is excited to celebrate the opening of the Bankhead Boys Association’s new headquarters at our Westlake facility.
The Bankhead Boys Association (BBA) will take over the front office space, which has been redesigned by Miller Zell’s creative team and decorated by volunteer associates to support mentoring, Boy Scout meetings, recreation and social gatherings.
The BBA was established in 1990 as an organization for young men in underserved areas of Atlanta. Miller Zell has worked with the BBA since the spring of 2015.
“In alignment with our corporate values — specifically community — we believe in the importance of giving back,” said Lavina Moss, Miller Zell’s SVP, Human Resources. “We support the Bankhead Boys and other organizations that are important to our associates.”
Moss has served on the BBA Board since 2016.
The BBA “is dedicated to helping at-risk boys, ages 7-18, living in areas of concentrated poverty in Atlanta, become successful, independent citizens.” It provides mentors to each boy enrolled in the program with focuses on education, health, money, life skills and social and emotional learning.
It also provides social services (health, employment, juvenile justice and educational support), transportation and access to Boy Scouts of America troops.
“Collectively, all of these things help prepare the boys to be successful adults, which includes succeeding in school and beyond,” Moss said. “Who knows, some of them may very well become Miller Zell associates.”
