The Miller Zell Charities Annual Golf Classic Raises Over $100K

ATLANTA, GA, Nov. 15, 2024 – The Miller Zell Charities Annual Golf Classic at Horseshoe Bend Country Club raised $104,000 for breast cancer and Alzheimer’s disease research, as well as a variety of other charitable causes.

Miller Zell Charities has hosted its Annual Charity Golf Classic since 2009 and in that time has raised approximately $958,300. The sponsorship donations will benefit breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs, as well as charities supporting veterans, animal services, children in under-served communities, LGBTQ+, autism, heart health, addiction and substance abuse services, nature/environmental programs, homelessness and the United Way.

Further, all proceeds from the “Purple Skirt Hole” will benefit the “Battle of the Brain” and Alzheimer’s disease research. Miller Zell will have a team participating in the “Battle for the Brain” Lip Sync Contest in February of 2025. 

“We are proud of this fun tradition when we share time with our associates, business partners and friends in support of great causes,” Miller Zell CEO Chip Miller said. “Alzheimer’s and breast cancer research are important initiatives to support, and we will do so until we defeat both. We are also proud to support a variety of causes that are important to our associates.”

Sharon Cooper, Miller Zell’s HR Manager, is a longtime leader and organizer for Miller Zell’s charitable efforts, particularly in the fight against breast cancer.

“These charities not only are pursuing a cure for both breast cancer and Alzheimer’s, they also are providing needed resources to help those living in rural communities,” Cooper said. “We are again grateful for the Horseshoe Bend Country Club and staff and our generous sponsors. I also want to thank all our Miller Zell volunteers, particularly Nichole Silva and Carmen Arnold, who have helped organize and manage this great event through the years.”
